Rival Cities

 

The small fishing village of Altona quickly developed into a flourishing city rivalling with neighboring Hamburg. You represent either Hamburg or Altona and want the achieve an uncatchable lead in one of four areas – prestige, lawsuits, ships or alliances – for an instant win. You alternate turns, move the ink well along the action cards and resolve the action of the slot reached. Bell slots trigger end of season scorings. Moving the ink well costs products from the third step on. Options for the slot reached are using the card there, playing a special action from hand, discarding a letter and doing both, or taking a special card in hand from the slot. Possible actions are Production, Gift, Donation, Product Swap, Gain Letter, Draw Special Action Card, Build Factory, Earn Prestige, Form Alliance, Purchase Ship, Advance Lawsuit, Curt Ruling, Reactivate Factory or Piracy. You win instantly by having three ship cards more than your opponent or three lawsuit cards or all four alliance cards or with the prestige marker on the name of your city; otherwise at the end of a season with most stars when one of the game end conditions is met.
