PLAYED FOR YOU

Level 7

[Omega Protocol]

Sequel to Level 7 [Escape] - Station Bravo has been thrown into chaos and the government sends out secret special troops to close down the station and eliminate all that it might still contain. One player embodies the Overseer and represents all aliens and challenges for the other players to master, the other players embody the elite troops. All try to comply with scenario-based targets. Central element of the game is adrenaline used by the soldiers to do actions. This has negative consequences, however, as generated adrenaline goes to the Overseer, who can use it to create new aliens, induce new threats and reduce chances for the soldiers to win the scenario. The more actions the troops implement, the more resources the overseer has-

A round of the game comprises the Timer Phase, the Commando Planning Phase with adrenaline transfer, assigning initiative and selecting stance, followed by the Commando Activation Phase wit actions - investigate, move, open a door, trade, attack, first aid or heal, all for a cost of 1 or 2 adrenaline. Missions or character abilities can modify adrenaline costs or allow additional actions. Finally, there is the Overseer phase with dashboard refreshing and dashboard abilities, followed by activating enemies and discarding adrenaline. You can play the scenarios individually or in sequence as a campaign; when the troops lose one scenario, the Overseer wins the campaign.

This is tabletop at its best, especially the adrenaline interaction between troops and Overseer forces the troops to painstakingly consider cost and benefit of each action.
