Dinomino

munching mushrooms and leaves

Dinosaurs are busily munching their way across the leaves and mushrooms on the board to advance fast on their track, and sometimes they receive additional power from the Dragon Fruit.

The 10x10 grid on the board is surrounded by a race track, 100 tiles show symbols on colored backgrounds – three kinds of leaves on red, blue and green backgrounds and mushrooms on a yellow background. Eight tiles are Dragon Fruit jokers, they can be placed everywhere and fit everywhere and they can either be mixed with the other tiles or can be distributed evenly among players so that all have the same chance for a joker. At the start you draw three tiles from the stacks and four tiles are placed openly on the four marked starting cases in the grid. The dino markers start at the first case of the race track.

The active player puts a tile on a case of his choice in the grid; if he puts the tile adjacent to a tile or tiles already on the board, all edges touching each other must show the same symbol. Then you advance your dino marker by as many steps as you did achieve corresponding edges with tiles already placed, maximum four steps. If someone cannot place a tile, he must quit playing, his dino marker remains on the track. The others continue until nobody can place a tile and you win, if your dino marker is in front on the track.

Nice, easy, simple and pretty! The placement mechanism for corresponding borders to score points is standard and works well, the transformation of those points into steps for the dinos provides the topic, fits very nicely and avoids the abstract character of such games.
