Rook
The Ever-Popular Bidding Card Game
Trick-taking game using cards 1-14 n four colors and, facultatively, 1 Rook cards. Cards 1-4 of each color are removed; you are dealt 9 cards and 4 cards (5 if Rook is used) are set down face-down as Nest. You bid for the right to name trump; bids must be divisible by 5; you bid the points that you believe you can make with your partner with the chosen trump; values of cards are: 5=5 points, 10=10 points; 14=10 points, Rook=20 points. The highest bid takes the nest, names trump and then sets aside a nest of their choice. If you take the last trick, you take the nest. Rook is always the highest trump card regardless of the trump color. When all tricks are taken, partners total their points and score in relation to meeting the bid.
