Seniors plan an escape

 

A trip to the beach would be what the inmates of the Senior Residence would love to do - so all the Elders must outwit the staff of the residence. But, of course, the staff is against such an outing and the seniors don’t really remember correctly where the exit is located. All they remember is that it is on the ground floor and their rooms are on the floor above. One player represents the staff, the others play residents. Residents try to reach one of the three exits and move over a display of room tiles. You start with one tile, move and place, as you do not remember much, only then a new tile when you look through an open corridor or door onto a new tile. On your way you can pick up things, that is, staff markers. In your turn you can move your decoy piece, play staff markers and then the other players can also staff markers. Then you move decoy or senior and roll dice. The chosen character is moved by the sum of the two lower results, you roll again and move then your other character and play staff markers again, which is followed again by other players playing staff markers. The staff player plays markers, rolls dice and moves a staff character, three times in total, and then plays staff markers again. The staff player wins, when he catches all residents, he usually needs two staff in place to catch one resident. As a resident player you win, if you are first to reach an exit before the staff player wins.

For once a game with a topic that is not the umpteenth rehash of a topic; the escape attempt is nicely and wittily implemented and offers a few good and interesting mechanism details.
