Panik

Ghost hunters and booby traps

As an experienced ghost hunter one has to oust unwanted ectoplasm manifestations, but other hunters have the same goal and try to lay booby traps for their opponents! You hold nine hunter cards and four manor cards - ghost manors, shared manors and booby-trapped manors. You turn up one manor of your choice and place a tandem hunter on any of your own face-down manors. Some ghost hunters have special abilities: Detector - before you place this hunter you reveal one opposing manor card. Call for Help - When this card is placed you can summon a hunter from another house to this house, but not from a house already featuring four cards. Tandem - This card cannot be called for help, but always scores double. Hyper-equipped - This card can neither be called for help nor be driven off from a manor.

In your turn you place a hunter in front of a manor, a maximum of four hunters per house, and can then drive off another hunter, who must instantly be placed at another manor, but neither can drive off someone in turn nor use a special ability. When all hunter cards have been placed, all manors are revealed; Hunters in front of ghost manors score each as many points as the ghost is worth; hunters next to shared manors score points according to the number of cards next to those manors and booby-trapped manors score three points per opposing hunter card at such a house.

Panik fits seamlessly into the series of games published by Ilopeli so far - it offers a nice topic, simple rules that are quickly explained, a short playing time and a lot of fun, in short, felicitous family entertainment engineered with sparse means and pretty design.
