Gipf

Gipf is the first, name-giving game of the Gipf project series of abstract games. You begin by placing three out of 15 pieces as shown in the rules. In your turn you place one piece from stock on a starting point and slide it forward by one position; a piece on the target spot and eventually adjacent ones are moved, too. If you manage four pieces in a row you take them back into stock, all other pieces adjacent in a straight line are taken, too, opposing pieces go out of play! You win if your opponent is out of pieces in stock. The standard version uses double pieces. Other games in the project provide “Potentials” for use in Gipf variants.
