Fox & Chicken

Fox and Poultry in controversy

Depending on the number of players you assign different numbers of fox and chicken roles. In analogy to the werewolf games the game master learns at the start who belongs to which faction and who embodies a special character, if in play. In the Night Phase foxes agree on a chicken that is eliminated. In the Day Phase all players discuss who could be a fox, each player can lie. When more than 50% agree on a player this player is ousted, regardless of being chicken or fox.

When at any point in the game there are more foxes than chickens the foxes win instantly. Chickens win if they manage to chase away all foxes.

The game gets really interesting with the special roles which you can include; the rules recommend always to introduce one fox rule and one chicken rule to keep the game as balanced as possible; the rules offer some recommendations for combinations in graded levels of difficulty. Some of the roles are Chicken in A fox Suit, Den Mother Fox, Egg, Fox Cub, Little Chick, Little Metal Hen, Rooster, Zombie Chicken, Cunning Fox , etc. Some roles change the winning conditions for one of the factions and for some roles you need experience with this kind of deduction and discussion games. All in all there 28 special roles in a total of 40 cards, but of course you can use each and every special card simply as a basic chicken or fox card.

Despite the by now standard game principle and the therefore necessary comparable and familiar mechanism Fox & Chicken provides a well-made variant offering lots of fun for beginners as well as for experienced players. The topic fits like hand-in-glove and the special roles are well-designed.
