The fourth Living Card Game, and based on the book and the films. Players are a company of heroes encountering and surviving adventures in Middle Earth. The game is a cooperative game for 1 or 2 players, with a second set up to four can play. The Core Set features 226 cards, which can be used immediately in four starter decks for an introductory game. This is amended by scenarios abd by 84 Encounter cards which you can pit yourself against. The cards used are hero cards, player cards, encounter cards and adventure cards. If at least one player survives until the last part of the adventure deck has been dealt with, the players have won together.

Expansions are published in the shape of Adventure Pack featuring 24 new cards in a total of 60 cards, the first cycle is called Shadows of Mirkwood and the six packs of the cycle are The Hunt for Gollum, Conflict at the Carrock, A Journey to Rhosgobel, The Hills of Emyn Muil, The Dead Marshes, Return to Mirkwood.
