Sudden Death

 

Teams rival during a brutal season to win the title. You customize your team with star players, engage staff, improve facilities and cheat wherever you can! You have five weeks to turn your team into the best team of the league. You start with a handful of scruffy players with limited talents and deploy them as best as possible to win highlights which improve the team and win you fans.

One round per week comprises preparation, matchup and result phase; matchup is the deciding phase! You normally have six turns in a matchup, comprising the steps of deploying players for the match, implementing their abilities for “when card is played”, implementing skills of players from left to right and - optionally - executing a matchup action. After the big final tournament you win with most fans.

Sudden Death introduces three new teams of the Dark Sorcery Syndicate a new faction of TMU - Naggaroth Nightmares (Dark Elves), Champions of Dead (Undead) und Black Fangs (Vampires). Cabal Vision contracts introduce new ways to score, magic balls introduce more chaos and then there are Improvements, Highlights and Spike! Magazine cards. Regeneration is a new characteristics symbol, Blood Markers for Vampire layers improve their combat strength. Ground abilities come into play when a player hits the ground, and some abilities of players are a matter of choice.

Fans of the game again find lots of supplements, tactics from the new rules and lots of fun with the cute mechanisms like Magic balls, the obligatory cheating remains a thrilling and challenging element of the game; the overall feeling is streamlined and elegant.
