Zauberer Malefix

Drawing in the grimoire

The apprentices of the sorcerer explore the book of spells and fill it with pictures. The game box turns into the des of the sorcerer, each player has a screen, a drawing tablet and a pen and, secretly, three image cards. Three rounds of the game comprise the phases of drawing and guessing.

For the drawing phase you take one of your cards and draw the image; you may only draw on the white area and the points snake must point upwards. If you are done, you turn over the timer and become the Timekeeper for the round and score one point on the points snake. The other players now have as long as the timer runs to complete their drawing.

The timekeeper then starts the guessing phase and takes the desk of the sorcerer. All close their eyes while he puts his tablet underneath the opening, covers it and rotates the desk to face the players. Then the active player rolls the die and folds over the bookmark with this number. Immediately all may quickly guess what was drawn. When all guesses were wrong the die is rolled again and the next bookmark is folded over. When it is already open you choose any bookmark. When one of the guesses was correct, painter and guesser score the number of snake coins visible on the still closed bookmark and mark them on the point snake. As soon as someone has 20, 30 or 40 scales marked in case of three, four or five players, the game ends and this player wins immediately. Or else you win after three rounds with most points.

Zauberer Malefix offers a very attractive adaptation of a familiar game mechanisms, including lots of fun, practice in image segment interpretation and imagination.
