PLAYED FOR YOU

Der unendliche Fluss

Yellow hat to the green pier

The little magicians want to prove to each other how courageous they are and plan to visit all scary creepy monsters at the banks of the never-ending river. 36 picture cards featuring monsters of one color and a magician with a hat of another color are stacked face-down, and each player takes such a card and keeps it secret. The river is set down on the table, the magicians sit in their boats and begin on their starting spots. In your turn you look at your card and then try to take the magician of the hat color on the card to the pier in the color of the depicted monster. To move the boat you put both hands on the river and shift it on the table in a way that makes the boat move in the direction you want. The boat is moved by the rotating glass marbles in the river. When the pier of the indicated color is reached you stop the river and draw a new card. But take care! Due to the river movement the other boats, of course, move as well and you help other players by your river movements to reach a pier of their target color. Whenever a magician whose image you currently hold in your hand, reaches the pier depicted on the card, you call “stop”, show the picture card and draw a new one. Whoever collects six picture cards first, wins.

In a variant using a die you only can move the river until another player has rolled 1, 2 and finally 3.

Yet another marvelous game by Guido Hoffmann, his games always have something special, this mechanism for the river movement is simple and works spectacularly well. Lots of fun to play and good practice for spatial thinking and hand-eye-coordination.
