Tolerance

Topic of the trick-taking game over three rounds are the reigns of Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth I.and King James I. portraying the change in England from Catholicism to Church of England. You select one of eight characters; Bertram the Balanced is used in the symmetric core game in which all players have the same goal. Cards carry symbols for affiliation (catholic, protestant, prevailing or guild member), rank, suit (nobles, Clerics, town folk, peasants or wild), piety value, money value, timing of game effects, end of trick, end of round, effect and target of effect.

For each round, the 70 cards+ the card for the current sovereign are shuffled and 12 cards are dealt to each player. The starting player leads a card, all others follow suit or play and card if necessary. The highest card of the lead suit wins the trick and the winners resolves effects in order of rank and then suit. When all tricks have been played and resolved, you resolve end of round effects and the end-of-round scoring. After the game end scoring you win with most points.
