Samurai Sword

RISING SUN

Samurai Sword is based on the well-established BANG! Game System: True and devoted Samurai protect their Shogun. Insidious Ninjas try to destabilize the Empire from within - at whatever cost it takes! And meanwhile a Ronin is preparing for battle and plans his revenge. Players try to suss out their enemies and to honor Bushido, the True Ways of the Warrior.

In the new expansion the conflict in the Land of The Rising Sun is continuing, honor is still stronger then steel, and opponents redeploy themselves, as a new Ronin enters the arena. The expansion introduces 12 new characters for Samurai Sword, plus 40 new cards with weapons, properties and actions as well as a new Ronin role card and tokens for an eighth player.

A turn includes: Resilience points, drawing two cards, playing cards for yourself or an attack and discarding cards. If you have lost all Resilience points, you must discard cards according to a new Banzai rule. When reveling is named as a card effect, you must, with the new rule "Reveal" turn up and discard the top card from the draw pile. In case of a tie with any team the Samurai/Shogun now wins, but in a tie between Nina and Ronin Ninjas win. For a game of 4, 6 or 8 players there are additional rules.

If someone is out of Honor Points the game ends and you score Honor, bonus of roles, Daimyo cards and Fatal Attacks.

Sword instead of guns - the game system of Bang! Keeps its allure in this new setting, still the priority in this excellent card game is on identifying your team members before trying to eliminating opponents. A felicitous and balanced expansion for a fun game.
