Sheep for COckerels, Cows for Sheep

 

Patrick’s father has been wishing for a tractor for some time and the neighbor has one to offer, but he wants two cows for it. On the farm of Patrick’s father there are only sheep and cockerels, so Patrick must do some swapping to get the tractor.

The game board is prepared and animals are placed on their respective pastures and on the hen roost in front of the farm. The three swapping signs  - they show three cockerels, three sheep and three cows – are placed on the corresponding pastures and the farm yard.

Players roll the die and move their marker as many in direction of the arrow. When the marker arrives at a case showing one or two animals, you can take the respective animals from the meadow. When the turn ends on one of the two bales of straw, you can swap animals that you collected for other animals, as indicated on the swap signs, but of course only if you have collected enough of the necessary animals. You can also make a swap when you roll a barn – in this case you move your marker to the bale case and swap. If you cannot do a swap for such a roll, you pass your turn. You always swap three cockerels for a sheep or exchange three sheep for a cow. If you manage to do such an exchange to acquire your second cow, you can immediately exchange those two cows for the tractor and win the game instantly.

Happy Farm is an enchanting game for children, the beautiful components carry a lot of flair and are less abstractly illustrated in this new edition, the topic fits the rules very nicely. The rules are simple and the  the game can – after an introductory first game – absolutely be played by children on their own.
