Card shedding on stacks

You try to be rid of your cards as fast as possible and can place them with other players or in the middle.  There are 100 cards, five cards each of values 1 to 20. The cards of value 1 are laid out to start stacks, the rest is dealt evenly to all players and stacked face-down. In your turn you try to shed as many cards as possible. To do so you place the top card of your discard pile either on the discard pile of another player or on one of the stacks in the middle; on stacks of other players you can place cards in ascending or descending order, on stacks in the middle in ascending order only. When the top card of the discard pile does not fit any stack, you may turn over the top card of your draw pile and place it, and so on. When the card from the draw pile does not fit any stack either, you place it on your discard pile and the turn passes to the next player. You must always try to place a card on a middle stack and only when this is not possible you may try for a player’s stack. The discard pile is only turned over for a new draw pile when the top card of the discard pile does not fit any stack.

If you place a card incorrectly on a stack or overlook a possibility to place a card you must take penalty cards, each player gives you the bottom card from his draw pile and you place it under your pile. A wrongly place card you take back and put it on your own discard pile. If you are first to place your last card, you win.

Well, all standard and well-known, but very nice all the same, due to players having their turns in turn there is no time pressure, so you really are a sleepy head if you make a mistake.
